ACL turns 25 this year, and the 2026 lineup gave Austin plenty to argue about. Two weekends at Zilker, October 2 through 4 and October 9 through 11, with a headline row that leans pop and electronic and an undercard that is quietly stronger than the top of the poster. Here is how to read the ACL 2026 lineup and decide who is actually worth planning a day around.

The ACL 2026 headliners, and what each one costs you

Charli xcx, RUFUS DU SOL, Twenty One Pilots, Lorde and The xx carry both weekends. Skrillex plays weekend one only. Kings of Leon plays weekend two only. Charli xcx and RUFUS DU SOL are the two that will eat your whole night. Plan to be at that stage 45 minutes early or accept watching from the back half of the field. Lorde and The xx are the opposite problem. Both are quiet, detail-heavy sets that get wrecked by a crowd talking through them, so get close or skip it entirely. Twenty One Pilots runs the most production on the poster and reads fine from a distance, which makes it the one headliner you can watch lying on a blanket without feeling cheated.

Skrillex versus Kings of Leon: the one real weekend difference

If you are choosing between weekends on the Austin City Limits 2026 lineup alone, this is the fork in the road. Everything else at the top of the bill is the same both weekends. Skrillex draws a younger, denser, later-running crowd, and the field around that stage gets rough after 9. Kings of Leon draws a crowd that shows up on time, sings along to four songs, and starts drifting out before the encore, which makes the walk out of Zilker noticeably less painful. Neither is a bad Sunday. They are just different kinds of Sunday.

The undercard is where the good sets hide

Turnstile is the one to build a day around. They are a hardcore band that became a festival band without getting worse at it, and that crowd will be the most alive thing at Zilker. Geese have grown into a strange, loose, genuinely unpredictable live act and land on Sunday. Young Miko plays Saturday and will pull a crowd well past what her slot suggests, so get there a set early. Blood Orange is the best late-afternoon set on the bill if you want something to sit down for. Lola Young, Suki Waterhouse and Audrey Hobert are all worth catching while the park is still walkable. And Brandon Flowers doing a solo set is the sleeper pick for anyone who has seen The Killers five times and wants the songs without the stadium around them.

The Austin acts worth showing up early for

Asleep at the Wheel has been playing this town since before Zilker had a festival, and a Western swing set at noon with a cold beer is one of the better things ACL does. Calder Allen and Coleman Jennings both do the local songwriter thing without the schtick. Night Traveler, Montclair, Left Lucid, The 4411, Almost Heaven, Grocery Bag and DJ Cassandra fill out the rest of the local slots. These sets run early, the crowds are thin, and you can stand ten feet from the stage. Nothing after 4pm gives you that.

How to actually build a day at Zilker

Pick two must-see sets per day and treat the rest as optional. The walk between the far stages runs 15 to 20 minutes once the park fills up, so back-to-back sets on opposite ends of the grounds do not work no matter how the schedule looks on your phone. One-day tickets are on sale for both weekends, which is the smart move if there is exactly one act you care about. Read the day-by-day grid before you buy one, though, because the artist you want may be playing the other weekend.

Which weekend to pick

Early October in Austin can still hit the 90s, and it usually does, so weekend one is the sweatier bet. Weekend two runs cooler more often than not, with slightly thinner crowds and shorter bathroom lines, though that gap has narrowed every year. Weekend one has the newer energy and more industry people wandering around. If only one weekend has the act you actually care about, that settles it. Otherwise the ACL fest headliners are close enough across both that weather and crowd tolerance should make the call.
