Welcome to Sundays. Psych Fest closes, Dave Matthews Monday, George Strait Friday and Saturday.

Welcome to the first Sunday Dispatch. The shift to Sundays means each issue is a forecast for the week ahead, not a recap of the weekend behind us. May 10 through 17 has more big-room shows than I expected: Dave Matthews opens the week at Moody on Monday, Antone's runs a tribute and a rock night midweek, and George Strait does back-to-back nights at Moody on Friday and Saturday. Add Austin FC at home Saturday and you've got a stacked week sandwiched between Mother's Day today and the Memorial Day preview that drops here next Sunday. If you've got Mom in town, the brunch picks from last week's issue still apply, plus a few walk-in plays below.

If Mom's still in town this week, our patios guide is the play for a quiet Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. The Mozart's lakeside table seats a reflective four, and the Josephine House courtyard handles a slow coffee-and-pastry morning.

ATX Weekly tip

First Sunday Dispatch tip: Sunday afternoons in Austin are the most underrated time of the week. Most patios are half-empty, kitchens are caught up, and you can walk into rooms that have a 90-minute wait by Friday night. If you've been meaning to try Birdie's, the Suerte brunch room, or the back at Comedor, today is statistically the best shot you'll have all month.

That's the week. We're on Sundays now, and we'll see you here every week with a forward look. Memorial Day preview drops next Sunday at 10am. — The ATX Weekly Editors
