Ariana Grande plays the Moody three times and the week turns loud.

Ariana Grande plays the Moody three times and the week turns loud.

Juneteenth landed well. The East Austin parade had strong turnout, and Rosewood Park stayed busy through the afternoon. Now we pivot to a week that gets loud in a different register. Ariana Grande plays the Moody Center on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, which is an unusually concentrated run for any touring act. Before she arrives, Les Claypool brings Claypool Gold to ACL Live Tuesday night, which is the kind of bill that sells itself without much description. The Austin Asian American Film Festival opens Wednesday at various venues and runs through the 28th. It is Father's Day this morning and Barton Springs opened at 5.

Every summer we get questions about handling a Moody Center show without losing two hours to parking. The short answer: the Red River bus corridor is faster than any lot north of campus on a sold-out night. We wrote up the full approach, with timing, drop-off zones, and the one garage that actually clears before midnight.

Looking ahead

ATX Weekly tip

For any of the three Ariana Grande shows, the cleanest approach is rideshare drop-off on Robert Dedman near the main entrance. If you drive, the Manor Garage on East Campus fills by 6:30 PM on show nights. The 2317 Red River lot is a 12-minute walk and clears faster after the crowd disperses.

Juneteenth is behind us, and the week ahead is stacked in its own way. Three nights of Grande, Claypool on Tuesday, and film festival programming through the weekend. Enjoy the summer before July hits. — The ATX Weekly Editors
