The date guide

Date night in Austin.

Most 'date night Austin' lists are just restaurant rankings. This one isn't. A good date night is a two-part arc — dinner plus a thing after, a show plus a walk, a swim plus a slice — and the art is pacing it so you're not staring at each other across a two-hour white-tablecloth blur.

Below are the dates we'd actually run this week: full arcs, honest logistics, and an obsession with the thirty-minute window between parts where you're walking or driving and you can actually talk. We flag the places to book three weeks out, and the ones you can walk into at 9:30 on a Tuesday and get a table.

New to Austin, or new to dating someone new? Start with the South Congress loop — dinner at Home Slice or Perla's, drink at Hotel San José garden, live music spillover from the Continental Club. It's the most reliably good three hours the city offers.
